About Us

​​​​We're dedicated to sharing our art

North Sky Kung Fu is founded on the idea of teaching practical martial arts while preserving a unique Kung Fu system. Our goal is to teach the full system of Shaolin Eagle Claw Kung Fu or Ying Jow Pai, and pass along its benefits to you. We also teach Wu Style Tai Chi — an essential part of Chinese Martial arts that adds balance and harmony to one's practice.

Our founders are both students of Grandmaster Leung Shum, who brought this amazing Kung fu system to the U.S., making us direct inheritors of the Ying Jow Pai lineage.

Sifu Dario Acosta is one of a handful of disciples who have achieved the level of "Master" from Grandmaster Shum himself. Sifu Acosta has practiced martial arts for 40 years, and is one of New York's most accomplished martial artists. He brings a lifetime of study of martial arts, and experience fighting, winning, and performing in hundreds of tournaments and championships in North and South America. He was on the national martial arts team in his country, and brings a unique level of insight and experience to his martial arts training and coaching.

The school's other founder, Sifu Julie Ann, is the school's director, and has been practicing martial arts for over 25 years, and has experience in various martial arts disciplines including Wushu and Taekwondo. Both Sifu Dario and Julie take an interest in the deeper aspects of Kung Fu, and are committed to helping students integrate kung fu practice into daily life as a tool for fitness, health, and balance.
